What Bloggers Love About Britain!- March 2019

March’s blogger is Gabrielle Isaac Allison, who was born and raised in Mooresville, North Carolina in the USA. She is a 25-year-old marking assistant, blogger, and freelancer. After earning her B.A. in Mass Communications from Methodist University, she married her college sweetheart Jonathan. They now live together in North Carolina with their cat Rum Tum (named after the mischievous cat from the popular British musical, “Cats”), and their dog, Maisel.

The closest I’ve come to visiting Great Britain is a keychain gifted to me by my best friend Lauren, who spent a few weeks on a short study abroad trip to London back in 2016.

It stays on my keyring all the time. The sad thing is that it says “I ❤ London,” but I’ve never gotten a chance to really love it. I spend a fair amount of my time on social media interacting with British-based bloggers and YouTubers, and I love what I see, hear, and experience. Here are 4 short reasons I love Britain:

1.    SLANG:Whether it’s being gutted about having to wake up for work on Mondays, or whether I’m tucking in to my home-cooked meal, I can’t help but use British slang. I’m fascinated by what different words mean to people in Britain vs. people in America!

2.    BUILDINGS/ARCHITECHTURE:Yes, I’m that basic American who wants to see the iconic British landmarks like the Big Ben, the London Eye, and Buckingham Palace. Sue me!

3.    QUIRKY LOCATIONS:I’ve heard of so many quirky British locations like God’s Own Junkyard, the London Dudgeon, and the Longleat Hedge Maze. They’ve really peaked my interest and I hope to visit them in the future.

4.    HARRY POTTER, DUH:Speaking of large mazes and London, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my love for Harry Potter and the Harry Potter World. As long as I don’t end up like Cedric Diggory, I’m down for mazes and magic.

I’m hoping and praying that I’ll one day be able to visit Britain. Maybe someday soon I can watch the Buckingham Palace guards give a (literal) royal smackdown to anyone who steps out of line or feel on top of the world as I ride the London Eye. But for now, I’ll resign myself to the amazing blogger and YouTube network of British creators like Georgia until I can visit Great Britain for myself.
