Nice To Meet You

Georgia

29 year old teacher, girlfriend, and mum. I currently live in Essex, and am passionate about travelling in the UK. I blog about my travel experiences, especially the ones that are family-friendly and dog-friendly, as well as about home and family lifestyle. I'm also a lover of literature, so read and review books here when I'm not writing my first book. Won't ever turn down a Pornstar Martini and a box of Guylians chocolates.

This has been one of the hardest weeks of our live This has been one of the hardest weeks of our lives.
Juggling a post-op dog in a cone who can't walk more than 5 minutes a time; an 18 month old who doesn't understand why her little mate can't play anymore; examining GCSEs; an online CPD course at home on my day off, and disturbed sleep has been a nightmare.
But it's all relative. There are many people who are living a more difficult life right now - victims of war, women in the US realising that they have lost access to one of their human rights and may die, people fighting to survive illnesses, poverty, slavery.
As much as I'm miserable right now, I'm thankful that the dystopia I'm living in isn't worse.

Wishing I was back in the Wordsworth Suite at @nut Wishing I was back in the Wordsworth Suite at @nutfieldprioryhotel for a toddler free stay. Somehow we end up doing something history or literary themed on our UK breaks, and Wordsworth crops up more often than you'd imagine.
It's probably because I'm a massive nerd for Romantic poetry.
Who do you keep finding on your travels?

Last weekend, @danielle_lou92, @serenasauruss and Last weekend, @danielle_lou92, @serenasauruss and @emily24160 trekked up to Northallerton for the Wilde Moon wedding!
Starting at London King's Cross, we had a 2hr train ride up to Northallerton Station, then jumped in a cab to The Village Inn.
We booked a family room for four adults with breakfast through Booking.com. A few hours of getting ready, and a quick bite to eat in the pub, and we were ready to celebrate with @larula_ at the gorgeous @thiefhall.
I may or may not have felt a little worse for wear the next day!
Thanks to some great businesses and the wonderful company I had in this little corner of North Yorkshire. Until next time 💜💜💜
Shameless toilet selfie from the wedding I went to Shameless toilet selfie from the wedding I went to on the weekend. @thiefhall decorated their loos like a forest - seriously, have you seen a toilet look this good?
I was a bit nervous about wearing a leopard mini dress to a wedding reception. It's a bit loud, and I was worried it would be too much - even though Ciara wore leopard print and smashed it.
If anything, I now understand how leopards camouflage so well in the wild 🤣. Kanye must be thinking about me.

Who's ready for a Winchester city photo dump? I' Who's ready for a Winchester city photo dump?
I'd been trying to get to Winchester ever since Dan and I binge watched The Last Kingdom during the 2020 lockdown, and we finally made it!
City exploring isn't the same with a kiddo though. We had to prioritise what to see, knowing V would lose her rag at nap time.
1. We started with @winchestercathedral to look for all the treasures there. See if you can find King Cnut's tomb - it took me ages!
2. Then on to @thegreathallwinchester to see the round table, and a surprise statue of Queen Victoria.
3. Then some shopping at @montezumaschocs and @pgwellsbookshop, two of the more interesting shops in the city. Montezumas is located in a listed building, because one of the walls is said to be the wall of the medieval Royal Palace, and P&G Wells is a 200 year old independent bookshop. How could we not visit?
Do I feel like we saw enough?
Absolutely not!
Looks like we'll be back some time. See you then, Winchester!
Quis sum ego? That's Latin for 'who am I?' and is Quis sum ego?
That's Latin for 'who am I?' and is the only thing I can remember from two weeks of lessons on Duolingo 🤣
It's fitting though, because this week, I've been having an identity crisis... like I do every month. Since becoming a mum, having PND and PNA, and realising I have suffered depressive and anxious episodes every month since I was a teenager, I've sort of lost touch of who I used to be.
Way back when, I used to kickbox, was addicted to Fallout 4, enjoyed immersing myself in literature at work and loved days out exploring new places. Now I just feel a bit numb all the time. I haven't been to a training session in almost a year. The Xbox is in the loft. There's no joy in English any more. Even going to a new attraction is a chore, because now there's no taking things at my pace - it's rushing back for the dog, or trying to beat traffic, or dealing with a tantrum.
This was me - drinking white wine in a plastic cup at The Globe Theatre, back in less foggy times.

💜 Six years 💚 Six! Here's a collection of 💜 Six years 💚
Six!
Here's a collection of photos from our best holidays to date. Our love of travelling is the most significant thing we have in common. Then our love of stand up comedy, then our ability to enjoy sitting through trash reality TV like The Cabins. We both like bingeing a good series too.
I easily imagined all the holidays we would experience together when we first started going out. I didn't anticipate how much literally any sport would take over my life though - Southend United, NFL, F1, cricket, Olympics, he's obsessed with all of it. Kept that quiet! At least now I have a phone a friend for any sporting related questions 🤣
And I don't mind it that much, really.
Scroll through to see us 6 years ago, when we were young and free, before the responsibility of homeowning and parenthood took its toll on our faces and our backs.
Let's see where we can go in the next six years.
