It's that time of the year! I thought we'd start It's that time of the year! I thought we'd start the Christmas content with a throwback to a couple of weekends ago. These Christmas lights stretch along the high street in Royal Leamington Spa, and it got me thinking, Christmas lights are magical for us, but I can't imagine people on the streets feel the same enthusiasm. Christmas lights bring on the cold weather, the long nights, the heightened isolation and loneliness. Imagine starving while others tuck in to turkey and all the trimmings. Yes Christmas is a time for presents, gingerbread, and Santa, but it's also a time of charity. Perhaps donate some clothes, toys, or money to a charity like NSPCC, or Crisis? Or volunteer in a shelter? Or give a little food to the person sat outside the supermarket. Feeling rather autumnal this evening, wrapped up i Feeling rather autumnal this evening, wrapped up in a dressing gown and watching Formula 1. We have this beautiful, little spot just a 20 minute walk from home. During Cvd, lots of people realised the pond was there which led to a boost in litter and the death of most of the wildlife, including a family of ducks. Now, it's teeming with life again, with two species of ducks, fish, foxes, herons and even a comorant - look them up, they're pretty impressive. Throwback to the start of autumn and our trip to D Throwback to the start of autumn and our trip to Devon. We took a pit stop at Birdworld, where V saw her first flamboyance of flamingos - did you know that the collective noun for flamingo is flamboyance? 🦩 I've been thinking about what times of year are my favourite, and what times I really don't like. My favourite times of year are these: 1. Early autumn - still warm but leaves are starting to change. 2. Christmas (from late November) 🎄 3. July/early August - holidays without the impending return to school, or packed August Bank Holiday. The worst time of year for me is January/February. It feels like it's been cold and dark for an eternity. Middle of the school year. Lost both my grandfathers in February. It's just a crap time of year, to be honest. But back to the now, my favourite time of year has just finished so roll on my second favourite 🎄🎁🥧🥂🍗🎅 What's your favourite time of year?
Our Ted has been feeling a bit under the weather.. Our Ted has been feeling a bit under the weather... well that's a slight untruth. What actually happened was this: Ted went to the groomers' on Thursday evening, where she noticed some gunk and blood around his anal glands. Yesterday Dan took him to the vet where it was confirmed he had an impacted anal gland which had formed an abscess and needed draining. They tried doing it while Dan was there, but there was just too much gunk, and it was too painful for the poor boy, so they kept him in to sedate him and do it then. Both of us were pretty nervous, but after a few hours we were able to bring our boy with a sore butt home for cuddles. Why am I telling you this? Check your dog's anal glands. We had none of the signs of impacted glands - butt scooting, fishy smell, lethargy. It came out of nowhere! Who knows how long it would have been going on if the groomer hadn't spotted it. If you park up at the @nationaltrust car park in Lydford, Dartmoor National Park, you can walk through the gorge along the River Trail to reach this amazing hidden gem. If a 2 hour round trip is a bit too much for you (it was for us with the baby on our back) there is also a Waterfall Trail which starts at the other NT car park a mile away and is a much more moderate route. This is the reason I'm so committed to having a he This is the reason I'm so committed to having a healthy mind. I was diagnosed with postpartum anxiety, but really, I've had anxiety for years. I'm very sensitive to stress. I suffer bouts of menstrual depression every month, and have done for as long as I can remember, but it's only since becoming a mum that I've become more aware, and more committed to managing it. Natural, running water, like Canonteign Falls, is one of the only things that never fails to calm me, or give me hope that it will get better. Find something that does the same for you, whether it's reading a book by the fire, a long bubble bath, a walk outside, or cuddling a dog. Wishing you a restful evening this #worldmentalhealthday
IT'S FRIDAY, FRIDAY!! Today is my last Friday on IT'S FRIDAY, FRIDAY!! Today is my last Friday on maternity leave... well technically it's next Friday but I'll be going into work for a couple of KIT days next week to get myself sorted and ready. Today should have been spent travelling back from the Lake District, but we decided to leave on a whim last night and drove 5 hours in the dark. Baby was asleep and we missed all the traffic 🙌, arriving home at 12.20am! Tonight, I'm going to do a workout, eat some ravioli, and I might have a little glass of wine. Really, I'd much rather be knocking back cocktails in London 😅 What are you doing with your Friday?

We were using a smaller fabric carrier but baby is outgrowing it so we had to look for an alternative. Similar carriers are in excess of £100, but we got lucky with this Aldi special buys one. It should have been £70 but it was on offer and we got it for much less. She's not a huge fan of it, but hopefully she'll accept the inevitable! Still prefer pushing her in the pram though. She's bloody heavy... that's why her dad does all the donkey work.
Would you ever guess this picture was taken throug Would you ever guess this picture was taken through a car window? Before I popped in to Dartmoor National Park, I wasn't all that bothered about it. I thought it was going to be an empty space, a few hills, and a pony. Was I wrong or what?! We drove through the middle of the park to see roaming cattle, sheep, and ponies. We passed gorgeous views across the moors. There were so many bridges crossing over little streams and rivers. We took a sneaky peek at Dartmoor Prison. We drove through beautiful little villages, one alive with stalls for a wedding fayre. It's a National Park for a reason! Can't wait to go back
